Abstract

Abstract

Pedestrian accessibility is an important element in realizing an inclusive and sustainable city. An inclusive city is characterized by public spaces that are accessible to all individuals, including vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities, the elderly, children, and pregnant women. Pedestrian paths designed with universal design principles can improve mobility, safety, and user comfort, while encouraging social interaction in public spaces. This study aims to evaluate the level of accessibility of pedestrian paths in urban areas and identify challenges and opportunities in developing inclusive infrastructure. The methods used include field observation analysis, user surveys, and literature studies related to accessibility policies. The results show that pedestrian paths in many cities still face obstacles such as designs that are not disability-friendly, lack of supporting facilities, and utilization of pedestrian space for activities that interfere with accessibility. Recommendations include strengthening regulations, implementing smart technology, and involving the community in the planning process. By improving pedestrian accessibility, cities can become more inclusive, support environmental sustainability, and improve the quality of life of its citizens. This research provides strategic insights for governments, urban planners, and other stakeholders in designing inclusive cities.
