Abstract
Refractive index is one of the most important optical properties of a medium. Water is the most important liquid of human organism, knowledge the optical properties of water is very useful for solution of problems of biomedical optics. This experiment was measured the absolute refractive index of natural water at temperature of 5 0C – 50 0C with wavelength of violet (405 ± 10) nm, green (532 ± 10) nm, and red ray (652,5 ± 17,5) nm, by the minimum deviation prism method. The minimum deviation anggle of prism was obtained by lagrange interpolation method base on experimental data of the deviation anggle (δ), the incident anggle (i) and the transmition anggle (i’). The results of the experiment showed that the variation of refractive index of water depends on temperature and wavelength. The increase of water’s temperature will be followed by the decrese of refractive index of water, and its greatest value consecutive is the wavelength of the laser irradiation purple, red and green.
