This journal is a joint-venture of the Indonesian Consortium for Human Rights Lecturers (SEPAHAM Indonesia) and The Centre for Human Rights, Multiculturalism and Migration (CHRM2) and is published by the University of Jember. The current chief editors are: Al Khanif of the University of Jember, Nyi Nyi Kyaw of the University of Singapore, Alex Grainger of Kent University and Dian Abdul hamid Shah of Malaya University. 

The purpose of this journal is to provide a platform for the publication of the academic works which pertain to human rights issues in South East Asia or South East Asian specific perspectives on human rights. Though this journal was created to showcase the works of authors affiliated with SEPAHAM Indonesia, it welcomes submissions form any scholars who's works pertain to the aforementioned topics. 

 New editions of the journal are published every June and December. All articles published by the JSEAHR are made availible online in an open access format, and can be downloaded free of charge by all interested parties and individuals.
