Authors Guidelines

Thank you for choosing to submit your paper to us. These instructions will ensure we have everything required so your manuscripts can move through peer review, production and publication smoothly. Please take the time to read and follow them as closely as possible, as doing so will ensure your manuscripts matches the journal’s requirements.

  1. JES accepts research-based articles, literature review, and book review which have not been previously published, nor is it under review or consideration for a book chapter or journal publication elsewhere.
  2. The manuscript MUST be original and should be written in 1,5 space, on A4 paper (with 2,5 cm from all margins) in Microsoft Word program (.doc, .docx, or .rtf), in size 12 of Times new Roman font, around 4000 to 7000 words in length including references.
  3. Manuscripts must be submitted online via JES website in MS Word with the name, affiliation and phone number of the author/s as a supplementary document to preserve anonymity. Please provide the word count on the manuscript.
  4. The title of the article should be written at maximum 14 words. A title should be simple, and easy to understand. 
  5. All manuscripts should be accompanied by an abstract of 200 wordsplus 4 or 5 keywords. The Abstract should explain: the background of the study, the purpose of the study, the method used in the study, the main findings, and the novelty of the study.
  6. All manuscripts writing styles should follow the article template provided by this journal. The structure for the manuscripts is as the following: Introduction, Method, Results and Discussion
  7. Introduction contains background of the problem; the purposes of research; generally the introduction is not too long, only 3-4 paragraphs or 2 pages. Reference should be a primary reference (especially journal articles), relevant, and up to date.
  8. Method in the article contains the subject and the object of research that are described in detail; if method refers to the standard procedures, then write the default and does not refer to the practicum procedures.
  9. Results and Discussion includes: systematic presentation, only the data/information related to the research objectives; simplify the tables and use the open table, and image maps more focused on the object of study and the file size is not too large and complicated (pursued in JPG format and submit in supplement/additional files separately); tables and figures are numbered. The purpose of Results and Discussion is to determine how the result of the study agree or disagree with previous studies. In this section the author(s) also limits the discovery.
  10. Conclusionis advised to mention the recommendation or suggestion from the study that include in paragraphs and not separated.
  11. Endnote is preferable to be used than foot note.
  12. A minimum of 30 references should be cited inside the main body of the article. The citation and references format for this journal follow the APA Style 7th Edition.
  13. Every manuscript submitted for publication in JES should  be checked for plagiarism using Turnitin and should  result in not more than 24% of similarity index.
  14. English version of the manuscript can be checked using grammarly.com before submission.
  15. The manuscript is submitted electronically to the JES system.
  16. After a review process by the boards (editors and reviewers), the editors will then make a decision by considering the reviewers recommendation with 3 possibilities: decline submission, accept submission as it is, revisions required, and rejected.
  17. Jurnal Entitas Sosiologi provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. All articles published in Open Access can be downloaded and read for free by readers. It is hoped that with this convenience, readers can read articles from this journal.The author agrees to choose the copyright of the article to the Jurnal Entitas Sosiologi , Sociology Laboratory, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Jember as the publisher of the journal if accepted for publication. The copyright for this article is then transferred to Jurnal Entitas Sosiologi if the article is accepted for publication. Therefore, Jurnal Entitas Sosiologi has a non-exclusive right to reproduce, reprint, translate, provide articles in all forms of publication such as photographs, microfilms and other similar reproduction activities. Permission The author has the right to copy, download and distribute the published material as long as the author and the source are cited. Any infringement found in the future of any copyright which comes without notice, the author will be responsible for getting sanctioned in accordance with applicable regulations.
  18. Author whose article is accepted has to write Disclosure statement.This is to acknowledge any financial or non-financial interest that has arisen from the direct applications of your research. If there are no relevant competing interests to declare please state this within the article, for example: The authors report there are no competing interests to declare.
