Abstract

Abstract. Biology in the classroom learning process VIIA SMP Mitra Jember shows that the average value of daily tests is still low. The activities of students during the learning process is less active. Therefore, this research aims to improve the activities and outcomes using learning model of Teams Games Tournament (TGT) accompanied Crossword Puzzles on the subjects of Biology grade VII A in second semester SMP Mitra Jember of academic year 2012/2013. This research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The research design used in this study is a cycle Hopkins. Data collection techniques used in this study were interviews, documentation, observation and tests. The data obtained in this study consisted of cycle 1, and 2. Based on the results of the study showed that an increase in the classical cycle of activity ranging from pre cycle reaches 37%, cycle 1 increased to 62.8%, and in cycle 2 82.8%. As for improving student learning outcomes in the classical ranging from 45.71% to reach pre-cycle, after cycle 1 in the classical learning outcomes was increased to 77.1% improvement in cycle 2 which results in the classical learning at 85.7%
