Abstract
Abstract: The use of open problem method is expected to increase the activity of students in the process of teaching and learning to avoid saturation. The students will be actively involved physically, emotionally, and intellectually. In this case, they are expected to have a better understanding on the concept of learning given by the teacher. The problems to discover in this research are: a) how is the achievement of science learning through the application of open problem method? b) how is the influence of demonstration method towards learning motivation of students? The aims of this research are: a) to know the increase of learning achievement of students after the application of open problem method. b) to know the influence towards learning motivation of students after the application of open problem method. This research uses class action research which consists of three turns. Each turn consists of four steps: design, activity and observation, reflection, and revision. The target of this research is students of VIID. The data obtained are in the form of test results, the observation sheet of teaching and learning activity. The analysis shows that the learning achievement of students runs into cycle I until cycle III, i.e. cycle I (66,7%), cycle II (76,19%), cycle III (90,48%). The conclusion of this research is that the learning activity using open problem method can provide positive impacts towards the achievement and learning motivation of students of VIID, and this model of learning can be used as an alternative in the learning of science.
