The Indonesian Journal of Law and Society is the faculty-edited flagship journal of the Faculty of Law, University of Jember, Indonesia, which exclusively publishes all papers in the English language. It is a refereed journal, all published papers were under a double-blind peer review by academics and experts in the field. This journal has been approved by the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), which indicates that it has fulfilled the open-access requirements of the peer-reviewed journal.

Aims, Focus, and Scope

This journal is interested to publish international, comparative, national research and reviews concerned with law and society. While this journal presents leading works from or concerned with Indonesia and other Asian regions at large, the journal’s scope is intentionally broad and its geographic coverage expands jurisdictions of developing countries.

All types of manuscripts, from socio-legal, empirical, to doctrinal will be considered for publication. However, this publication encourages empirical and cross-disciplinary areas of law relating to political science, criminology, history, sociology, human rights, technology, and political economy. It includes articles on law and its relationship with society in developing countries, articles bringing a perspective from developing countries to socio-legal issues of global concern, and articles using developing countries as a starting point for a comparative exploration of law and society topics.

At retaining the focus to explore law and society issues in developing countries, this journal accommodates the intellectual horizon of the discipline that embodies comparative and international nature. If you have prepared a manuscript solely limited to analyzing a national legal system, the Editorial Board suggests you embed it with a comparative or international dimension. Otherwise, your submission may be rejected.

Publication Frequency

This journal publishes articles two times a year in March and September.

Article Processing Charges

This journal does not charge authors any fees to publish a manuscript.
