Author Guidelines

Journal of Legal Reform will only publish articles that comply with the Journal's Guidelines and Manuscript Preparation Guidelines. All submitted manuscripts will undergo a review process by experts in the field. This journal aims to provide a platform for law students to publish original research articles or articles in the field of legal studies, particularly in the study of legal reform. 

Please also write your expertise in order to help us assign you with manuscripts that are in line with your expertise.

  • Manuscript written for The Interdisciplinary Journal includes research outcomes, field research, or literary research and articles reflecting interdisciplinary phenomena.
  • The manuscript is written in English or Indonesia, typed using Microsoft Word program on A4 paper, around 6.000-8.0000 words in Cambria size 12 pts, and 1.5 space.
  • The writing system for research outcome consists of:

Title

The title should not exceed 15 words, typed in bold with a centered capital letter in 19 pts.

Name of the author

The name is written without any academic degree, followed by the name of the author’s institution. In the case manuscript written by the team, the editor is only in contact with the main author or the first-mentioned author. The main author must include his/her correspondence address or email.

Abstract with keywords

The length of the abstract is around 150-200 words, while the limit of keywords is 3-5 words. The abstract must contain the aim, methods, and result in the article.

Introduction

The introduction should contain a general background and research question or hypothesis. If there is a literature review, it can be included in this chapter.

Methods

The research methods should elaborate on the method utilized in addressing the issues including the method of analysis.

Results and Discussion

The author should explain the results of the research in detail and the discussion section contain results of the research finding and their ensuing discussions

Conclusion

The concluding statement should contain a summary and suggestion

References

All references cited in the text of the article should be written in the bibliography section and using McGill Guide reference style: The Canadian Guide on Uniform Legal Citation. See the link to follow the instructions https://guides.library.queensu.ca/legalcitation-mcgill-9th

It should include references obtained from primary sources (consisting of scientific journals amounting to 80% of the entire bibliography) that have been published in the last 10 (ten) years. The remaining 20% may include research articles or research reports (thesis, books, and other relevant publications).

  • The manuscript is to be submitted directly to https://jurnal.unej.ac.id/index.php/idj/about/submissions by creating a user account as an author.
  • Tables and figures must have titles and have a clear number and sources, and be typed in a single space. In the case of pictures or figures, it is better to attach the white-black format.
  • Check each referred article for accuracy and make sure every quoted work in the article is written in a bibliography and references. Works that are not cited but mentioned in the Bibliography or Reference will be omitted by the editor.
  • All manuscripts are anonymously studied by reviewers appointed by the editor according to their expertise. The author is given a chance to revise the manuscript based on the reviewer's or the editor's recommendation/advice. The decision of publication or rejection will be informed through the author's email address.
  • The editor has the right to modify and correct the spelling, writing, and grammar of the published manuscript.
  • Everything related to citing permission or computer software usage in writing the manuscript or any other things related to copyright done by the author, along with all its legal consequences, becomes the author's full responsibility.

The submitted manuscript will be evaluated by the editorial board and peer reviewers who have expertise and competence in the relevant research field. After the evaluation process, the Managing Editor will inform the authors about the acceptance status, rejection, or the need for revisions. All submitted manuscripts will undergo an initial review process conducted by the Internal Editor, which includes: the suitability of the manuscript with the theme and scope, manuscript format; writing guidelines, and similarity level. Regarding plagiarism checking, the accepted similarity percentage should not exceed 30%. After passing the initial stage, the manuscript will be forwarded for further review through the double-blind peer-review system.

This journal provides open access to all its content with the belief that offering research for free strengthens the broader global exchange of information. The minimum length for submitted manuscripts is between 4000 to 10000 words, including footnotes and an abstract. Manuscripts should be written in Times New Roman font size 12pt. The expected structure of the manuscript includes: Title; Abstract; Keywords; Introduction; Methodology (for original research articles); Findings and Discussion; Conclusion; and References.
