Abstract

Textbooks are the main source used in the teaching and learning process. It is necessary to conduct a study to assess the appropriateness of the text. The purpose of this study was to examine student handbooks and mathematics teacher handbooks based on 2013 Curriculum for Grade VIII in 2017 Revised Edition according to the criteria so that educators can be used as references in choosing good teaching materials, criticism and for publishers can be used as suggestions for developing teaching materials. to be better. The type of research used is descriptive research. Data collection techniques are carried out by reading and taking notes so that they can provide an assessment or description related to textbooks that include the completeness of systematic components, norm requirements, legality, content, presentation, language, and design with several indicators in it. The results of the study indicate that there are still deficiencies in every aspect of both the student handbook and the teacher's handbook.
