Abstract

Abstrak. Studying in groups is a very effective learning model to increase student activity, as well as to improve student learning outcomes. One model of learning in groups is a cooperative learning of jigsaw type. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the application of jigsaw cooperative learning model can improve student activity and learning outcomes? This research used classroom action research and qualitative approaches. This data was obtained from observation, tests and interviews. The results shows that the application of jigsaw cooperative learning model can improve student activity of 38% in the first cycle to 60% in the second cycle, while the learning outcomes also increases  from 67% in the first cycle to 80% in the second cycle. Thus, it can be concluded that the jigsaw cooperative learning model can improve the activity and students learning outcomes.
